CDA has smoothed out my transition between local competition and debate at the national level with generous considerations regarding my family’s financial situation. High School Intro is the entry point for students beginning debate at the high school level. Over ten weeks, students explore how Public Forum debate works and practice all its core components, from researching and citing evidence to constructing cases and participating in crossfire. Students will learn to work effectively with a partner, balance clarity with persuasion, and analyze real-world issues through structured debate. The class emphasizes growth in public speaking confidence, collaboration, and critical thinking. By the end of the course, students will be able to participate in full-length practice rounds and be prepared to advance into JV or competitive debate teams.
