Alma Hill Ceja

Alma began her speech and debate journey in 2014 at Wood River High School, where she competed in speech and qualified for the Idaho State Speech Tournament multiple times. She continued her involvement at Boise State University as a member of the nationally recognized Talkin’ Broncos speech and debate team. During her four years at Boise State, Alma served as Vice President of the team for two years. She earned multiple tournament championships, including two National Championship titles in Spanish Interpretation.

Throughout her time in speech and debate, Alma found her greatest passion in mentoring novice students. She enjoys helping new competitors build confidence, strengthen their public speaking skills, and develop the critical thinking abilities that extend far beyond competition. Watching students discover their own voice and grow into confident communicators has been one of the most rewarding parts of her experience.

Alma believes speech and debate provides students with lifelong skills that prepare them for success in every aspect of life. Whether speaking in front of an audience, collaborating with others, or thinking critically through complex issues, the lessons learned through speech and debate continue long after competition ends. As Civic Debate Academy’s Social Media Manager, Alma enjoys connecting with students and families while highlighting the achievements, opportunities, and community that make speech and debate such a transformative experience.
