Ann Hannah, MA

Academy Class Coach | Rutgers University

With 25 years of teaching experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as a debate coach. Her background includes extensive experience with Model United Nations and debate coaching, with students consistently winning one of the top three awards. She has helped students develop strong research, public speaking, argumentation, and critical-thinking skills. Her coaching style emphasizes preparation, thoughtful analysis, respectful disagreement, and the ability to support an argument with clear evidence.

She encourages students to listen carefully to opposing viewpoints, ask meaningful questions, and engage in productive civic discourse. She believes that successful debate is not simply about winning an argument, but about developing the skills to think critically, communicate effectively, and understand perspectives different from one's own. She is especially excited to continue coaching students because debate brings together many of the skills she values most as an educator. She loves watching students gain confidence as they learn to research complex issues, formulate compelling arguments, and express their ideas with clarity and conviction.
