Katheryne is the director of debate at NDC and co-director of PFBC. She did three years of national circuit PF for Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland, where she was a three time qualifier to the TOC. As a competitor, she won several bid tournaments and earned multiple top speaker awards. Some notable accomplishments include: top speaker at Lexington, Lakeland, and the Harvard Round Robin, top-5 speaker awards at Valley, Blake, the Blake Round Robin, and Bronx, semifinalist at the TOC, 2x champion of the Valley Mid-America Cup (2020 and 2021), finalist at the Harvard Round Robin, semifinalist at Blake and the Blake Round Robin, and quarterfinalist at Harvard, Blake, and Stanford. As a coach, Katheryne has worked as an assistant at Taipei American School and a lead coach at NDC, as well as leading labs at VBI, ISD and NSD, where she has worked with multiple TOC qualifiers and highly competitive students. She has helped her students make deep runs and champion multiple national tournaments, most notably winning UKSO, Stanford, Apple Valley, ASU, Marist, Cavalier Invitational, and more; placing 3rd at NSDA nationals and semifinaling the TOC. Katheryne is also a member of the PF wording committee. While coaching, she emphasizes fundamental skills and drill-based work to build a solid foundation in debate for her students. She also has experience with responding to and adapting critical argumentation styles to PF. Katheryne absolutely loves coaching at NDC and cannot wait to meet all of you this upcoming season!
