Howdy! I'm Kate Liu, a freshman at Berkeley, and the only CDA instructor to have their bio in first person. During the two years I competed on the national circuit, I won the Glenbrooks, Florida Blue Key (2024), Sunvite, and the Texas State Tournament (TFA). I've also placed second at Harvard, third at Florida Blue Key (2023) and the Longhorn Classic (UT), fourth at the Texas State Tournament (TFA), fifth at the Extemp TOC, 8th and 13th at NSDA, and competed at the Montgomery Bell Academy Round Robin (MBA) twice. I also had the privilege of running the Extemper's Bible, and its podcast. Most importantly, Bob McMahon (Managing Editor at CFR & host of The World Next Week) told me I had a cool suit once. During my time competing, I always tried to emphasize my personality (through cool suits or corny jokes!). As a coach, I do the same, as a big believer in unique styles that truly reflect you and your beliefs. I can't wait to see what y'all can do, in and out of round.
